Hercules 54505 is a neutralizing amine mixture which is soluble – Grade А in an aromatic solvent, and Grade B in an aqueous solution.
Hercules 54505 is designed to neutralize hydrochloric acid in vapor phase of overhead stream in Oil Refinery. It works like ammonia, however it doesn’t produce the deposits like ammonia chloride. The byproduct of Hercules 54505 reacting with hydrochloric acid are removed from the system with the water phase stream.
The neutralizer has high neutralizing capacities which allows to maintain a stable level of рН in drainage water at narrow limits of 5,5 – 6,5. The neutralization products do not generate sediment on the metal surface.
The neutralizer «Hercules 54505» is injected continuously into the overhead line before the water vapor phase dew point. The aim of use is to maintain pH level in the overhead stream in the range of 5,5-6,5. It is recommended for use with corrosion inhibitor Hercules 30617.
The dosage rates of Hercules 54505 are based on some certain conditions of crude oil desalting process in distillation unit. Those rates can be from 3 g/t to 20 g/t per overhead hydrocarbon stream.
The neutralizing amine should be injected using a dosage pump.
